First Steps in Process Mining

You want to optimize your processes and drive the digital transformation within your organization? BIC Process Mining is one of the most powerful monitoring tools on the market and assists you in real-time measurement and monitoring of all your business-critical processes. To get started successfully, simply follow the four steps below.

Step 1: Start BIC Process Mining

Register for the 30-day trial version and log in with the provided login details at the BIC Process Mining logon screen. If you are already a BIC customer, enter your login details as usual.

Step 2: Start with the process analysis

After successful login, you will automatically be taken to the portal view of BIC Process Mining. In the right list view, you can find your folders, process models and events lists. The folder structure as well as the search bar are located on the left side of the portal window. To start the process analysis, you need an event list (e.g. Excel file) with all relevant event attributes, such as the case number, the time stamp, roles etc. Click on the cloud with the up arrow to import the event list into your portal. A pop-up window will appear. Here, select "Browse" and start uploading the desired document into the system.

Step 3: Create the first process model

The selected document is now displayed in the tool. To finalize the import, click on "Upload" in the appearing pop-up window. Double-click the event list in the portal view, BIC Process Mining will automatically create the associated process model for you. Here, you have the option to choose between various filters, adjust the number of process activities or connectors, and vary the duration, frequency or perspective.

Step 4: Generate a BPMN process

With BIC Process Mining, you can not only display the process as a mere flow chart of related activities, but also as a real BPMN process diagram. To do this, select the BPMN button which is located in the top left of your process view. The tool automatically transforms your model into a BPMN process model. Hereby, you can easily understand in which constellation and order taks are actually done. Thanks to numerous filters, you have extensive analysis options here, too.
